   Georges Nadra
A seasoned French artist, with a deep eye for being, but also a transmitter of memory, Georges Nadra set up his studio in various countries such as Lebanon, Italy, Canada, Switzerland and France, constantly in search of new experiments.
His works challenge, seduce, sometimes disturb.
Their structure is unusual. A succession of slightly sketched grids such as windows or grids, where each square opens onto a transparent space, nevertheless inhabited, seem to emerge as traces of memory, snippets of desires, memories, having encouraged the artist to transcribe and transmit in the immediate future the emotion felt. The sometimes airy and fragile aspect of the moment, such as "Papillon", or the linear, horizontal and assertive impression, such as "Sequence IV", take possession of the canvas.
Endowed with a great sensitivity, the artist is also caught by surfaces such as skins. Alive, breathable, sweaty, they absorb, relax, react to the touch, as a means of communication, an essential element in the eyes of Georges Nadra.
His research also leads him to a questioning between truths, lies, deceptions, authenticity. The unfinished aspect of some works, such as a question mark, could play the role of "introduction". Conversely, powerful contrasts clash and exacerbate, especially between surface and depth, full and empty, transparency and opacity, light and shadow, raw canvas and embossed paper. Finesse of the execution often carried out in charcoal, lightness of the paper, sometimes suspended in space, rigor of the structure, surfaces animated by floating human elements, the register and the richness of the content are infinite.
Light, - white being often privileged - is another aspect of Georges Nadra's work, especially with the astonishing achievements on paper, embossed, inflated, - worked both on the front and back -, to which are added, for the canvases, the brown of linen and black. However, in tune with life, the rainbow, hope, dream, traces of yellow, red, blue, - bright and acidic - illuminate and warm here and there the dark fields.
The works of Georges Nadra, loaded with meaning, do not leave unscathed and open this space of light to which everyone aspires, but are also a source of deep questions, plunging their roots into the reality of our world. Magnificent, confusing works, full of mystery where the human is omnipresent.
Do not miss a memorable encounter with the artist and his work.
